These times are trying. We get it! You are doing what you can by working from home, and you also have your kids home from school every day! When not working on schoolwork, we put together a list of 5 very entertaining and fun activities for kids that they can do independently from you, so that you can have time you need for your own career! We hope this list is helpful.

1. DaChill. online

Have you heard of this? It’s a fun resource for kids! A reliable entertainment guide plays games and activities with your kids via zoom. This is an awesome use of zoom to help kids still connect with other kids. This resource can be used between friends for a play date or for remote birthday party! Have your kids’ friends join the same session so they can participate in the fun together. This fun activity for kids will be something they can look forward to when nothing else is planned in the daily schedule.

2. Fun activities for kids – Word games.

These keep me entertained for hours, and I’m an adult! There are so many word game apps that encourage your children’s mind and vocabulary! Some favorites are:

Please be aware that some of these games allow you to “chat” with your opponent, so you may want to disable that function to ensure your child is safe from any outside communication.

3. Puzzles.

Of course, you may think, this is a given, but I still haven’t broken out the puzzles yet, and this is sure to be endless fun and entertainment for your kids. If you have more than one child and they like competition, try doing puzzle races. Get two puzzles with the same difficulty level and whoever finishes first, wins. This fun activity for kids uses a lot of concentration and perseverance skills. There are also online puzzle options if you’re in a small space with no room for a puzzle.

4. Board games.

Who doesn’t love games? Search the back of your closets and dust off some old games you haven’t played in a while. If they are more adult games, try modifying the rules so your kids can play easily without asking you questions at every turn.

5. Books.

Reading has been proven to be so good for kids. Encourage your kids to read! Series books are so fun. Series like Junie B Jones, The Boxcar Children, Encyclopedia Brown, and Ivy and Bean are so fun because your child can “keep up” with the main character and grow with them! Even though some libraries are closed right now due to the coronavirus, there are other ways to get books. Audiobook companies like Audible are offering many free children’s books. Audio books are very entertaining and can be listened to with headphones so you won’t be distracted while you’re working!

This list is not exhaustive, but we hope these fun activities for kids give you hours of entertainment while you’re busy working from home.
